Scott and Sherri Weaver founded the Specialty Shop in 1999 after leaving there previous long term employer Roberts Drapery Workroom. The Specialty Shop opened in the basement of the RG Landry Building in downtown Glens Falls, NY. On a $5000.00 loan from a family member.
Armed with only a few basic sewing machines and a few hand picked and talented part time sewers The Specialty Shop soon was attracting local Interior Designers and as word spread so did our clientele reaching into Vermont and Connecticut.
After 5 long years in the windowless basement The Specialty Shop moved to Hudson Falls in a building 3 times the size of the previous location and added several local and talented seamstresses and fabric cutters. We were now able to go into full production mode offering custom made bedding, draperies, valances, seat cushions, fabric shades and accessories.
In 2009 The Specialty Shop was re-named Factory Direct Window Treatments and moved to South Glens Falls, NY. and offers 3 full floors dedicated to window treatments and related accessories as well as manufacturing. Factory Direct Designer's Workroom is a division of Factory Direct Window Treatments.
